Reliving 2011

I've enjoyed this app all season, but the latest update has made it impossible to use. I purchased Postseason.TV access, but I'm running into all kinds of issues:<br/><br/>The main one is that the app is convinced that it's two days ago and won't offer scores or live feeds for current games.<br/><br/>And when live video does work, it gets stuck at earlier moments in the game — reloading and relaunching the app does no good.<br/><br/>Plus, the live video feed doesn't let you see balls, strikes and outs. I know it's supposed to be supplemental to the TV broadcast, but this seems like a strange omission.<br/><br/>I hope they can fix these before the postseason ends.

This app is difficult to rate because it comes in two parts. So I will rate them separately and then summarize.<br/><br/>THE APP<br/>The app itself is outstanding and one of the best apps I have. It is solid, quick, and visually very stunning. The interface is very intuitive and easy to navigate. This receives 5 stars on its own merit.<br/><br/>THE SERVICE<br/>MLB has a couple levels of service they offer. I decided as an experiment to get the highest level service they offer with MLB TV. I have nothing but Apple products so this seemed like a good deal since I could watch my teams on my MacBook, AppleTV, iPad, or iPhone. I read about the restrictions (believe me, there are many) and decided to see if I could enjoy watching my team's games ONLY AFTER 45 MINUTES MINIMUM after the game ended and still enjoy the game. I have discovered that knowing the outcome of the game GREATLY GREATLY diminishes the experience. (By the way, I'm a Cardinals fan and I can't watch their games at all during the World Series.) I even tried to become a fan of another team so I could watch the games with reasonable frequency. Than didn't pan out well either. The final result was I didn't watch the games as I'd hoped. Therefore in my humble opinion MLB TV is not worth the money. It doesn't make much sense to spend over $100 and not be allowed to watch your own team play in real time. The service receives two stars because it unerringly delivered what was promised but what was promised is not much due to the blackouts.<br/><br/>SUMMARY<br/>I'm not the kind of guy that calls names or impotently demands MLB to change their ways. MLB will do what they think is best and so will I. My hope is that they will change their policy on MLB TV so that subscribers can see their team on away games as I can understand their misgivings for letting subscribers see their teams' home games. Until something changes I can't justify the high cost of MLB TV and would not recommend it unless you are a type of fan that doesn't mind knowing the outcome of the game before you watch it.<br/><br/>I waffled quite a bit over setting the stars. The app is great but I really didn't like the MLB TV service much. So I went with 3 stars because for a price tag well over $100 total I didn't receive what I consider reasonable value. Next year I will check the rules again and if the blackout rules remain the same I will definitely purchase the app and listen to the radio feeds, but I will not spend the money for the service.

You can't watch games live with this app. Must make additional purchase.

Bad things<br/>1. They need team and individual stats<br/>2. Could be cheaper.<br/>3. Unfortinitly, you have to pay separately to watch full live games<br/><br/>Good things<br/>1. Good for checking on scores and what's going on in any game<br/>2. Free audio<br/>3. You can listen to either clubs audio<br/>4. Plenty of articles to read (keeps me occupied during the offseason)<br/>4. Standings/wildcard<br/><br/>Overall, it's pretty good, but MLB should defiantly improve this app next year or I probably won't buy it.

This is a money grab that makes me sick. I bought MLB.tv last year, and both the iPad and iPhone apps. That's right, this isn't a universal app and I spent $150 ($120+$15+$15) total on the whole thing. Then, I learned that even though Atlanta is almost 2hours away, I was blacked out from all the Braves games because I live in that market and could watch on TV. Why would I watch on my iPad, if I could watch on TV? I have an iPad for watching games when I'm not at home. Nope, not seeing any of the value that this is supposed to bring. This year I got a Slingbox instead! I will no purchase MLB at Bat 12 unless it is universal or comes bundled in the MLB.tv package.
