Animoog

You all deserve an award for this app! I couldn’t say enough to express how amazing it is. I used it everyday. The fun never ends. The sound is phenomenal, and the best of any in the App Store. Which I can easily say of all your apps. True high fidelity! <br/>Just waiting for AU now.

I was really excited to use this with my MIDI controller, but it’s useless for my needs since it won’t register velocity and cannot play more than 4 notes at once. 8 notes would have been somewhat reasonable (I was expecting 16+ though). With these limitations it’s just an expensive toy, not a valuable tool.

There is a simply enormous wobbling pile of synth apps for iPad, and virtually all of them have one thing in common: An onscreen keyboard. That’s fine for short-term use, but there’s not much option for true velocity response, and play by touch is impossible. Obviously those apps are meant primarily to be used with MIDI controllers, and that’s fine as far as it goes — but it betrays a lack of imagination.<br/><br/>Enter Moog, who decided they might want to go off on a different direction and create a synth that is designed to work ON GLASS, instead of something that mimics a physical keyboard, and accepts all the limitations that come with the attempt.<br/><br/>Animoog was, and remains, a breakthrough instrument. It doesn’t try to present you with keys. It gives you strokable sliders instead, and it breaks completely away from the fixed-key model by providing you with chromatic presets which totally change the layout of those sliders. Chromatic? Phrygian? Lydian? More? Touch the “KB scale” control and pick the scale you prefer.<br/><br/>And then there’s what you can do with the X/Y pad (the part of the app that looks like an oscilloscope) and the ways you can modify the resonance, timbre, and more of the sounds while you’re playing them. And yes, there are presets, and they range from glassy to percussive to fingerstyle or fretless guitar, and more.<br/><br/>But front and center, here, is those slider strips. They break away from keys, and in doing so they free you of limits and allow — encourage — you to interact with Animoog as an interactive instrument on a sophisticated touchscreen computing device.<br/><br/>It was a brilliant idea, and you bet it’s worth every buck you pay for it, because the next closest thing to this I’ve seen is a ROLI Seaboard, followed by a Buchla, and either of them will set you way, way, way farther back than this little gem.<br/><br/>Follow your heart and find some joy. Tap that buy button. Explore a new, and really intriguing, way to create music.

It’s Moog... not much else needs to be said. They are the Ferrari of synthesizers and this no exception at a fraction of the cost of a real one. If you are even slightly taking music production on iOS serious then...All of the Moog apps need to be your first synth purchases. Get a midi controller + Cubasis and that's a strong start on your journey.

This is hands down the most original and best synthesizer on iOS. In fact, it’s up there with my favorite synths of all time regardless of platform, analog or digital. I’m controlling it with my Sub 37, but use the Animoog keys as frequently - and with MIDI mapping it’s a absolute treat to behold. So unique, spectacularly easy to program, sounds great, and my favorite ping pong delay ever. It’s such a steal.

Love Animoog but this update makes zero sense. What about z??? I don’t get it at all🤷🏽‍♂️

No longer works at ALL in anything BUT standalone mode in Cubasis 3. All of my other IAA apps work perfectly. What is going on, Moog?

Please help! I just purchased this app and the default sound is terrible. It’s very different than all the tutorials that I listen to. The bad sound is the same with the speakers or AirPods. I have followed instructions to initialize the sound and mine sounds awful. What could be wrong?
