8 of 25I teach university level fungi, and find then list of species very good, with beautiful, large photos of each specimen. The text is adequate and provides more specifics about identification that a picture can show. Some have complained about the small thumbnail images, but when you open up a species list you then see a gorgeous large image. The GPS enabled species checklist looks promising.<br/><br/>A few suggestions- the search function does not include a selection for spore print color, which many people will want to use, and also is a very useful character to identify many species of mushrooms. This omission should be fixed. <br/><br/>Though the app says it displays them, I don't see the "similar species" lists come up though. I suspect this will be corrected in the next version. <br/><br/>when these items are fixed, I'll make my review five stars. <br/><br/>For me, well worth the cost. Thanks!
This would be my favorite mushroom ID app (I have purchased 4) if it would just function without freezing up or crashing. It is tied to the NatureShare community and that provides frustration all its own. On the up side there are a good number of mushrooms identified with sound descriptions and beautiful images, although multiple images of the same mushroom would be helpful and is rarely provided.
I really wanted to enjoy this app because my property has a dozen different species of mushrooms and I wanted to become familiar with them. <br/><br/>But the app constantly crashes and is user-unfriendly. It's a waste of both time and money. Don't bother.
It’s not really a field guide. The imagery is somewhat limited… which is HOW you get help identifying mushrooms, PICTURES PICTURES PICTURES. Some species have, literally, one photo… some from the underside. I guess the content just seems a little thin. There’s no info really on poisonous or not. Most times is says “Edible: With Caution,” And there’s no explanation.. like you’ll ONLY bleed out from your eyes if you eat this one. Not a comprehensive app.
Google is already free and lists all mushrooms known to man. This app is very limited and a huge let down. Already deleted it:(
I seem to have forgotten my user name or password and can't log in. I can't register either as they are "taken" - yes, BY ME! I find no one to contact, so would seem to be stuck
Crashes every time I try and advanced search. Location services are inaccurate, unless you live in Vermont. Not comprehensive. Guess I'll go back to the ole "eat it and see what happens" method. 😏
Wouldn't have known what half of the mushrooms I find without this app
