FINAL FANTASY VI for the iPhone/iPod touch/iPad is here!

FINAL FANTASY VI first debuted in 1994 as the sixth installment in the iconic FINAL FANTASY series. Innovations included the ability to play all the main characters as the game's protagonist, and to this day, its epic story intertwining each of their fates is still highly rated and wildly popular. The characters' dramatic performances are also highly rated, including the catastrophe occurring midway through, which delivers a particular emotional jolt to players.

With plenty of abilities available and the magicite system for controlling spells/summoning, players can develop their characters any way they want. This was also the first FINAL FANTASY game to include the Ultima Weapon, the most powerful sword of all and a recurring item in subsequent titles within the series.

Features

• Game data saved with iCloud can now be shared across devices! At home or away, on your iPhone or iPad, pick the play style that's best for you.

• All graphics have been painstakingly recreated, bringing the world of FINAL FANTASY VI to your mobile device for the very first time! Kazuko Shibuya, one of the graphics designers involved in the FINAL FANTASY series from the very start, personally worked on the main characters and supervised the recreation of the game's graphics.

• Square Enix's vast experience in A-list smartphone RPG titles has been harnessed in implementing intuitive user-friendly controls that make the game easy to play on touch screens. The battle interface has received particular attention, with a complete overhaul for use on your smartphone.

• This smartphone release includes the new magicites and events that were introduced in the 2006 remake.

• Some events have been optimized to be played with user-friendly touch controls.

Story The War of Magi left little but ashes and misery in its wake. Even magic itself had vanished from the world. Now, a thousand years later, humankind has remade the world through the power of iron, gunpowder, steam engines, and other machines and technologies.

But there is one who possesses the lost power of magic--a young girl name Terra whom the evil Empire has kept enslaved in an effort to harness her power as weapon. This leads to a fateful meeting between Terra and a young man named Locke. Their harrowing escape from the Empire's clutches sets in motion a series of events that touches countless lives and leads to one inevitable conclusion.

Why in the world would delisting the app help genuine users who purchased this?

Story and game are amazing to play, one of my favorites within final fantasy. Having hard time understanding why square would completely remove the app while also greedily remastering it at the same time. If so, then don’t the users who purchased this get some level of recompense. I still have access to the app but at this point there are no more updates or fixes being obligated to the older version of the app. Basically tell users of this decision and give them options to upgrade at no or minimal costs. Otherwise stand to lose your valued customers.

Better not to buy this.

You want to play this game? Emulate the original SNES game.

by Tensaret · November 13, 2020

No port made has come close to the quality of the original game. Whether it’s inferior sound, graphics, or stability, Squareenix has failed every port of this amazing game. This one is no different. The art style completely clashes both on a visual coherency level and a tonal level. You know what doesn’t fit with a game that starts with dark storm clouds, an invading, murdering empire, and a young woman forced to burn dozens of soldiers alive while her mind was subjugated? Bright, brazen colors and character models that look pompous and inflated. Add in every battle screen having 4 separate, disjointed art styles between the characters, enemies, background, and menu... why is it so hard to make this game with current technology!? Hell. Get some tech savvy fans to do it Squareenix! They’ll do it faster, better, and with more passion than you can muster you pathetic, lifeless, greedy, lazy husks.

Final Fantasy IX remains unplayable after months. Stop abandoning your customers

Everything stretched

by Me!!!!!!69 · April 2, 2021

The iOS version of this game used to be playable — I played through it twice. But for some reason, the aspect ratio now looks terrible on phones, and they’ve removed widescreen support. Everything on screen is stenches wide and it just looks ugly as sin. This is one of Square’s best games, so I can’t understand why they give it such poor treatment here. A real shame.

Love this game BUT!!!

I love this game. It takes me back when I first started ff. The only draw back is a key feature is missing on the start menu. The feature is the ( New Game + ) feature that lets you start the game over after beating it with all your stats You earned and items that are not quest affiliated ) this is the only draw back. If it would have contained this feature still I would have given 5 stars

Great game made frustrating

Very faithful to the SNES version I loved decades ago. However on iPad the large & semi-opaque movement control is nearly impossible to use accurately — it can be maddeningly difficult just to aim for a door you want to enter, and it can cause you to fail timed tasks or anything requiring precise movements, such as mazes. Equally exasperating are the endless scripted scenes, especially near the middle of the game; at one point there were only about 20 minutes of actual gameplay within a two-hour block of game time. In short FFVI is great for nostalgia or to get a taste of the classic, but for smooth & engaging play on iOS, try III or IV instead.
