8 of 15The lack of proofreading was annoying enough before (and yes you have to proofread AI generated content), now there are ads everywhere - there are more ads than content. But the final straw and reason I’m going to stop using the app is that an anti virus program now opens automatically and starts scanning when I use the app. Judging from other reviews here, it’s happening to other users as well.
This app is loaded with ads that obviously haven’t been vetted, as they automatically launch web pages that try to trick you into installing malware onto your device by claiming it is infected with a virus. Extremely poor management! Just another negative thing added to the pile since the horrible Altice acquisition.
I’ve been using this app for years - mostly to check local weather and it has been fine. Even if the trashy ads were a turn off, they were unobtrusive at least. Until recently when the app has started forcing you to your web browser and started running fake anti virus scan popups. Awful experience and feels like you’re dealing with some kind of really blatant malware site. Surely Optimum/Altice isn’t this desperate for ad dollars??
Having trouble accessing live news 12
If you’re looking for news that’s 2 days old, then this is the app for you!!!!
While I like the app and the ability to tap into News 12 when I'm out and about, the app has been almost unusable for the past two weeks. Nearly every time I try to check the weather, I get automatically taken to my web browser, to a webpage that is either claiming to install a virus, or scanning my device for a virus. It can be very alarming and has essentially rendered this app useless to me until this can be resolved.
The app updated and OF COURSE, the app doesn’t work anymore…NONE of the videos attached to the news stories will play.
Why would you publicize a planned takeover of the Roosevelt Field Mall on Sunday complete with a colorful boxing graphic? Looks like a cool concert post! Very dangerous for vulnerable teens and the public.
