The selling point of this game is its gorgeous graphics. And the gameplay itself is decent, but not great. (it would benefit from some tuning balance the offensive and defensive capabilities better.to The concept of the game --tower defense plus your own attract troops--is great. . For me, the game fails in its controls. There are significant bugs: place towers in certain locations and they can't be selected; the interface thinks you're clicking elsewhere and no matter how you try you can't select the tower you want. Target one castle and your troops will run right past it to a different one and get slaughtered Build a tower up fully, and then accidentally press the "sell tower" button because it's where the "dismiss" button would be, and say goodby to all that money. Starting a level is unforgiving and requires patience. On several occasions I selected a different level than I intended , but didn't know because the map lacked markers, and selecting a level activated it. Theres no chance to change your mind..you must wait though the slow page load to see what you chose. There's no restarting a level if you're doing poorly--you must exit all the way out and work back in through the slow load again. "pause" clears the screen so you can't plan ahead. Need a second to think strategy? Too bad, the game starts immediately and pause clears the screen. One quirk that I didn't notice for awhile was the lack of a "speed up". When the game start to drag, it would be nice to speed it to up
i like this game, the graphics and stuff like that are really good but one thing is giving me a hard time. the guys can hit a tower. they are so annoying that we can't even win!! plus the enemy can build more towers than us. if you want the guys to hit and destroy towers at least make the towers so hard to be destroyed. not that easy! we build towers with 450+ and they just destroy it with cold blood. i'm disappointed.
Knocked down to two stars since as far as I can tell my iTunes playlists shut off every time I go to play. Not a big fan of not being able to listen to my music while gaming on iOS devices. But, oh well.
graphics are great, game play is smooth and i like the concept (a nice change of pace). i would like to have difficulty settings added (i just play for fun). no complaints, like the game allot, fun play with lots of single player options. just ask for the normal tweaks here and there with each update and added content is always welcome!...thanks!!
The idea of a tower def game mixed with real time strategy sounded right up my alley, but the overall execution is shoddy. There isn't enough balance to the single player: the levels are either way easy or nigh impossible. Every level feels the same, and the AI is nonexistent, you might as well play against a clock as their units get too powerful.
Excellent Tower Attack game; I say "attack" because you are not only defending your kingdom, but you are also sending out attackers on foot to crumble the opposing stronghold. This is a very welcomed addition to the Tower Defense genre; I've seen it done before, but not this well. Your footmen upgrade based on increasing numbers sent out, but you have to balance that against ensuring your defending towers are doing their job. You see, towers on the field draw resources per second. If you spam towers everywhere, you'll have no gold left to generate units and you can't win without attacking. Brilliant system. Some people may not like this game, but it is likely to be that they are playing it wrong. You have to control the ebb and flow, you have control resource nodes, and you have to react on the battlefield. Don't ignore spellcasting, because you think it's too expensive; it's a very valuable tool to thwart attacks and to make your own punch through defenses. Another warning, putting a bounty on enemy hard-points is extremely expensive; definitely worth it, but it has to be used at key moments when you're making a push (and be careful not to unintentionally trigger it). There are tons of different units, all of which are upgradable through multiple tiers, so far. The graphics are period and perfect. Campaign, Skirmish, Defend, and Multiplayer modes are included. A very polished title from Paradox, one of my favorite developers on any system.
I love Tower D games. I really do, its a sick addiction. I've bought many good and bad iOS tower games. Tower D games, due to their repetitive nature need to offer their own twist to make them at all exciting. There's been some really clever ones like GeoDefense which cleverly changes the dynamics on each map, sometimes enemies have more health, sometimes they're speedier, sometimes certain towers cost more than others, in short, it keeps you thinking and engaged. The bad ones keep you on autopilot, never engaging, just mindless upgrading, like TowerMadness. The selling point is that Defenders of Ardania lets you send waves while defending waves. Sounds cool right? Well its been done better, such as the under-appreciated Gundead Defense. This game has abysmally low depth, simply forget about offense and build up your towers. Once you've set up your towers, its off to waiting for your income to amass. Once you've hit the money cap, release as many units as possible. Its all rinse, recycle repeat from this point out. There's little strategy, and little thinking to be had. its too bad, this game is pretty polished, and looks good on an iPad. if you're looking for an iPad specific tower D game, toss in for Jelly Defense or Starfall, or even iBomber Defense. All three games offer plenty more fun and challenge. If you want a Tower D game that brings in the ability to build and send waves, try Gundead defense. Download the free version of this game before you purchase.
Graphics are very good, interface is excellent, gameplay just is not there. Endlessly sending wave after wave of units, that invariably die before reaching their destination.
