Choo Choo Steam Trains

Just installed yesterday and my 10 year old hasn't stopped playing. It's a challenging game and not as simple as I thought which has him playing for hours trying to beat different levels. I tried and it was a lot of fun. Would recommend.

And when not connected, you get levels where you have to manage 2 different trains on the same track which gets too complicated too soon. You have very little control over speed. Tapping to speed boost is not enough control.. Need a BRAKE option, simpler layouts or just one train at a time. Don't get this for your kids. They'll be frustrated after level ONE, and you as well. Be prepared to crash a lot. This is way too hard, way too frustrating. BUT..... when the game connects to internet and to the lame Crystal, it gives me easier levels, ONE train at a time. I've completed about 12 levels. But when this game fails to connect, you get completely different overly difficult levels. LAME!

While I rate this a three-star, its only because Chillingo is usually better than this with their games. Choo choo Steam Trains has some fun ideas behind it. Overall, a fun experience, but has some flaws to it. Hopefully most of the problems are fixed in the next update. Graphics: Graphics are dated. Comparing it to other games like Paper Train or Train Conductor it simply doesn't match up in this regard. However, I will give the overall setting a slight thumbs up. And the ability to create your own track the way you want is pretty nice. The way the camera goes from top-view to spectator mode is also good. It is cool that it is in 3D, but feels like it should have been more, especially by this publisher. The bridges, tracks, trees, buildings, it is all pretty nicely varied, but could have been more. Sound: Is awful. Made worse by the fact that the game ignores the mute-slide/button on the iPhone and iPad, the sound is downright awful. The music is this "Going to The Fair/Arcade" style of sound that just doesn't match up with the setting of the trains. The train whistle also sounds poorly made too. It is repetitve, grating and bad. Please fix this to allow for our own music to be played in the background and fix the mute-not-working feature. GameCenter not included is a big question mark. Despite my problems, it is a well thought out game with plenty of content to sink your teeth into. Its a pity that they took short-cuts in the graphic department and didn't give us a wider variety of trains or a more enriched 3D experience. I have a feeling that the iPad can handle a lot more than what Choo choo gives you. The sound department could use an entire overhaul as that was the biggest shortcut, but fortunately, you can turn the iDevice down. *Note, this is not actual 3D, just 3 dimensional models in the game. This game could have benefited from a more serene type of music to be honest. Is this game worth 99 cents? Yes. Without a doubt it is worth that. But not much more than 99 cents. It hasn't crashed yet and there are few, if any, bugs in the game.

Keep getting a blank screen.

Won't let me finish the second phase...keeps shutting down....reviews have said the same thing....NEED TO FIX THIS!!!!!! When It works I like it!

I like the game but the sound is what needs fixed. Let us play our own music and or just level the music sound itself and level the choo choo sounds on the game O and slow down or a control on the speed of the train in watch mode. Haven't built any lay outs yet. Nice platform trains, More control!!! Sound Speed on watch mode More detail ???????? Good game for anyone

Very fun little game! Like a reviewer below me mentioned, the fact that you can get more prices for your own track is a get incentive system. It's an excellent multitasking game. Here's my only complaint: please make a mute button. Even when my phone silenced, this game makes noise. How am I supposed to get my choo choo on in class with noise? I know I can just turn my speaker down but it's an easy fix for an update.

This is a terrific game for train lovers of all ages, easy to learn and beautifully modeled in 3 dimensions so that the camera swoops smoothly between top-view and spectator mode. Collecting track pieces for use in build-your-own mode is a great incentive to keep playing. I like the fact that the game can be as frantic or as relaxing as you want it to be. Would like to see American-style locomotives added--Don't know if they unlock later. It's both a fun game and a portable toy train set, and it's very, very charming.
