Day One (Journal/Diary)

Took away iCloud sync, leaves broken folder that doesn’t sync. Took away export function to json so you can’t move your entries to another app. Will never buy any thing from this company going into the future.

I love this app, but after the recent update, I noticed that the date and time stamps on my entries were changed. I'll have multiple entries on certain days and no entries on other days. But I know that I have written at least one entry per day for the past year. I hope the next update fixes this glitch.

Bloom, thanks so much for the lost photos, loss of entire entries, and duplicate entries. On the upside, the developer appears to have continued to provide some short-term support and updates for this app, in hopes of re-establishing much lost goodwill. That effort is appreciated. This was an excellent app. Many long-time users are angry and frustrated for good reasons. The developer handled user privacy, user experience, and the journal data transfer transition from Day One [now “Day One Classic&quot;] to the new &quot;Day One 2” app version (listed as separate app for purchase), very, very poorly. The new version, Day One 2, completely removed the iCloud and Dropbox sync options, while instead implementing only a developer-controlled 3rd party sync service without any encryption or secure privacy on the server side. Developer admitted staff has access to unencrypted Day One 2 user journal files on the AWS servers, hosted by Amazon. Developer also appears to be planning to charge a subscription for sync and backup service for the app (bait &amp; switch). This developer has been burning his own breakfast. See the other reviews for additional recent user complaints concerning this app and the developer. Genuinely hoping this develpoer can pull their act together.

I reinstalled a previous version of the app, before they stripped it of all its functionality.<br/>they HAD nailed it, with what arguably could've been one of the best Apple watch apps ever made, but the watch app is now two simple buttons? all these 5 star ratings are suspect (or they’re definitely noT apple watch owners). <br/><br/>please just try to bring back the previous watch functionality. 1 star forever until then. hide it behind a force touch if you have to but please do something. the developers had to know how great that Apple watch app was. or maybe not? <br/><br/>this is why I never delete old versions of apps and keep previous versions around in case I need to wind back a poor development decision.

I thought this was a free apt. There wasn't a price it said (get) on my phone. Now I have a bill for $5.27 . Is that per month or week? I have tried to write this review before, and they didn't like it so I will try again. If not I can tweet or fb.<br/>It is probably operator err , my fault. <br/>About the app. I like it .

Ticks me off that they come out with a &quot;new&quot; app instead of an update so they can charge me twice. Now the old app is degrading in quality...basically it is legacy app now. I use apple products largely because of free updates for software. I hate to buy things two or three times. I'm thinking about abandoning Day One...I love it, but do not want to have to buy again to get the latest version.
