8 of 25Very cool app! Definitely would be my go to browser although it does crash a bit. Bought it yesterday and already crashed twice. Please fix this
Click a link and get a blank page. I have to completely close out the app and re-open it and try again. Not guaranteed to solve problem though. Used to work perfectly. Can't wait for bugs to be squished.
I have been waiting for an app like this for years. I have a disease that prevents me from using my hands/arms for any length of time without significant pain. Swipe-scrolling on the iPhone has become too painful to bear. I was desperate and actually contemplating giving up my iPhone for good. Then I found Portal. I thought it was the answer to everything. Thought. Once I got past the learning curve with Portal, which took about a day, I really started to love it. But just as the other reviews noted, it started crashing super frequently. Not only that, but when it crashes, the "tilt-scroll" function oddly disappears, as well as the page you were on. Upon reopening, you have to go into Settings, slide the switch from the already "ON" position, to "OFF", then back "ON", then navigate back to where you were. Then it works as it should until it crashes again--then repeat...again and again. Given that the "tilt-screen" is the bread and butter of this app, I can't understand why it was released covered in bugs. Please, please fix this!! Another odd behavior, is if you are several pages deep into a website and choose "Previous Page" it will sometimes kick you all the way back out to the search engine results page. Annoying, but not tragic. A minor quibble would be that the "tilt-screen" doesn't work within the rather long Settings or Help pages where it could be handy. Aside from the amazing (when functioning) tilt-scroll, the UI is really sexy with a handy thumb navigation menu, and it's nice that you can choose how sites identify your device and/or OS (Safari for Desktop, iPad, or iPhone, Firefox, IE 6,7,8, etc..) and thus deliver the desired content and layout. If it wouldn't crash so often, I would rate it five stars. Portal People, please for the love of all that's good and holy, fix these bugs!!!
The concept and execution of the app is absolutely brilliant, but it's completely unusable. Forget the tabbed browsing, because in one tab going three links in makes it crash! You can't use it as a browser because it quits before you can actually get started. The worst part? When it crashes it doesn't save the history, so it's a guessing game to find your place. In addition: Support for upside-down rotation Rotate fade needs to be fixed Bug fixes!!! Please work on this... I'm using the latest iPod Touch and it's having these problems. It really is unusable currently.
Buggy, but awesome.
Loved it before 6, now it disappears almost instantly after starting it. Version 3, Fairplay 2. Tied deleting and re-installing, no worky. Very stable before 6
