Animation Desk for iPad

I love it, I’ve had no problems with it so far, and in my opinion I would say it’s perfect for young animators (like me) and older ones.

This app is absolutely terrible. There are so many problems to it, one being the basic hand short keys aren’t there. Usually, apps let you undo after tapping 2 fingers. 2nd, it is extremely difficult to navigate around the app. Putting 1 thing is super difficult, lags a lot, and the majority of the time, it doesn’t even let you. Soundtracks don’t work. There aren’t many tools either. There are many spelling errors in the app as well. Picking the colors you want are extremely difficult and you have to search through the whole entire app just to find one thing. Onion layers don’t work well either. I try using them, but they don’t work. Most necessary things are not added, and most unnecessary things are added. The tutorials aren’t very helpful either. It lags, glitches, and the tools are terrible for art. I wish I could rate this better but this app brought so many difficulties and bugs, so I definitely do not recommend it.

Small yet powerful app. Easy to learn and use. Haven’t crushed or disappointed me yet. Highly recommended.

I'm too poor to get a professional animation tablet, and this is my next best option, though there's a lot of bugs that have cost me weeks of work and frames deleting on their own or appearing in a random spot in the animation. I hate how the pencil and quill are so pixelated at the smallest size and how frames become blurry if they're duplicated, and that you can barely zoom in on what your drawing. The select tool is awful and shifts a random section of the frame content after I move a drawing and it is very blurry, and the fact that there are only 2 layers to work with and all the blurry, pixelated lines make the drawing quality very poor. I've had this app for 3 years and I'm very disappointed in how nothing has changed for the better, if anything, it's worse. I wish there was an update that fixed all of this.

I find that the more and more and longer I use the app the more problems pop up that take forever to fix or never get fixed. One of the biggest issues I have with the apps recently is how the sound only works like 70% of the time and when I say that I mean that it literally just records the sound itself, but when it comes time to put the sound with the animation it works only when it wants to which is for all practical purposes never once. I don’t even understand why doesn’t work most the time. I mean I’ve been using this application for years and only now the audio is being unusable so I am aware that they have the ability to make a working audio system but they don’t seem to be doing it. Some other issues are with how files are stored while the system works very good sometimes I’ll make a new file and put some projects in it just for me to close the then come back to the app just for the file to be gone and all my projects back where they were. I find this problem is rare enough for it to not really be all to bad but it seemed worth mentioning. But it does have more intuitive design then most apps so I can give it that. I also know that this review has been mostly negative but it does have some good qualities but this review is already to long. My final thoughts are that it’s good for beginners but that’s about it. But just a couple of changes and it could be amazing.

Once the sound and animation options are intuitive, this app is the best for animation. Selecting a file/any option to see the wav form in relation to the play head.

I’ve been a long time user of this app, I loved it big time. This was the very first app/software I used to start animating. But... each update gets worse. I’ve started to dislike this app each time there’s an update. With each update there’s a glitch or the previous glitch gets worse, and worse, and worse. One glitch that made me stop using this app was when I go to record an audio. The audio won’t play even after I’ve recorded it multiple times, used different projects, different FPS, it just wouldn’t work! This really frustrated me to the point I’ve stopped using it. Then another problem is you either lose your frames and/or lose the audio each time you go back to your project. The FPS would change and when I go to change it back, it deletes my audio. Plus when I go to download the animation it’d delete some frames making the animation choppy and not very pleasing to look at. It’s a shame that my favorite and first animation I’ve used gone bad because I used it since it came out. I would’ve rated it two stars but I gave it 3 because of its features included. It’s a nice app but the glitches ruined the fun of it. Please fix these. I would love to use this app again but it’s too frustrating to use. Thank you for reading if you have.

It's fun, and good for aspiring young animators, but it can't be used quite as professionally as I would have hoped. It has too many limitations that close in on your creativity. I've tried to lip sync to recordings, but that doesn't work. For the longest time, I though, "Wow, I just can't lip sync. I'll never make a proper AMV!" But then I realized, this app only goes up to 24 bloody frames-per-second! I just needed to vent about that, I likely don't have a clue what I'm talking about.
