You might think this application would allow you to view Google maps offline. Nooooo, it only allows you to view openstreetmap offline, not Google maps. There is a world of difference between the two. Google maps shows a ton of detail for even exotic cities like Guilin or Taipei. With open maps you're lucky to get a few street names. For NY, Paris or LA maybe that's OK. For China, Hong Kong, or Vietnam it's useless. Google maps even has the name of small hole in the wall eating places in Chinese, and the outline of almost every building.<br/><br/>Nowhere do they point this out. Compare this to oMaps, where they state this right up front.In addition I hate the burnt edges look. I want something clean and practical, not arty and hard to see.<br/><br/>So in summary, if you have Internet connection this app allows you to do what you already can do with the free Maps app. Why bother?
It worked fine for a while but at some point it stopped working with my two step login I have enabled with my gmail account.
The Cartographer is an absolutely gorgeous app, and incredibly useful too. The one downside I have with it is that the "antique" look takes up too much screen space on the iPhone, but now there is a way to turn it off - making this app absolutely fabulous. <br/><br/>On the iPad, this antique look taking up space would not be an issue, and this app would be able to really shine. Once the Universal version comes out, this app will really rock. Any update on the Universal version ETA???
Hands down, this is the most useful tool for bring a Google user's "My Maps" or "My Places" to the iPhone. In fact, it's nearly perfect.<br/><br/>The problem? The old world theme. On a large monitor, I'd love it. On the iPhone… it just doesn't display well. If the makers of this app would make a sister app with simply used the same colors as Google Maps, then I'd easily award 5 stars… 6 if I could. It really is a good app… I just personally can't like it with its current, single theme.

I use this app in conjunction with writing blog posts on locations, it would be VERY useful if like in the web interface of google maps, we could get a link for copy-pasting the embedded map HTML of a location in the map. Please?
Been traveling for two weeks now and this works great. Just update your google maps and download the city you want.
