One of the most comprehensive dictionaries I’ve used.

When you finally get to lookup a word it’s a pretty decent app. Getting to the point of being able to input a word , not so decent ….Ads galore being bad enough , but I can’t really complain it’s free. then ad into the equation that more than half the ads are some sort of time based ad page . You have to stare at this weird ad for anywhere from around 10 seconds to a half minute or more before a micro x will pop up in a random corner , or a button to move the process along so you can get to the x. Which ok , still, it’s free. But… then ad in that about half of these ads don’t make a clear way to end the ad .unless of course you’re willing to go where the ad wants you to to purchase something . Then every now and then I get what I hope is an ad , that pops up making it look like the dictionary app is suddenly closed ( no longer see dictionary screen and can see my Home Screen in the background )asking permission to some setting(s) within my phone , followed by a big apple alert screen saying my phones been infected with 120 viruses! I just left the app to see if there was something here explaining what’s up . Now if I swipe up I can see the dictionary app is on a“protect 360 pro” app page that looks like I’m here in the App Store but still labeled as the dictionary app.so hopefully it was just an app ad for “protect 360 pro”that uses extreme fear tactics .?.? But wtf, I have older relatives who’d definitely be downloading something after seeing what I just did out of that extreme fear ! <br/><br/>Edit: thank you for responding . I was in a small state of shock when i was led to believe my phone was “infected by 120 virus’s” . Finally figuring out it was just a hard sell ad was a mix of relief ,and then anger(at the advertisers). I probably should’ve cooled down a lil more before reviewing . Ads aside the dictionary is great once you get to it .. again being a free app i would’ve never complained over a 30 second ad every other / few lookups . But those scam ads should be illegal .ive removed some of my comments and upgraded my rating a bit . The only negative i can say is those trap you on a screen ads that come up consistently and lately the new ones that basically are like phishing scams ..i will definitely look for the report ad option next time ,thanks for the heads up . 3 stars is because no half stars (solid 3.5 overall experience that would be 5 without scary ads lol) ..i dont use dictionary all that often,but, if this changes in the future and the threat ads get removed i will update again accordingly.

I am glad to have and use The Free Dictionary app by Farlex. I find it a very user friendly and well designed tool even more than ever before. Keep up with the great work and content.

This app is fun to just search for new words for your vocabulary, to use for school because it’s super convenient, to use for work if your a writer and need to broaden your vocabulary, for children and teens on the go…right in the palm of your hand’s, on your laptop or iPad this dictionary app is easy to use and super convenient !!!

I had a lot of bookmarks and now I don't.<br/><br/>Did I log into the wrong account when you forced logged me out after many years or did you stop supporting them?

It’s SO HELPFUL and always available, when I need it!

Its functionality as a dictionary and thesaurus would be hard to surpass. However, they also allow scummy scamware ads that pretend to be system messages from my phone. Ultimately, I decided that I’m more discriminating than that. Why would I lend my phone to such a vendor? So I deleted this app.

Excellent application to look for the meanings of unknown words. I’ve using it for many years already and it’s been very helpful. 100% percent recommended!
