More than 20 years ago Armin Gessert developed with GIANA SISTERS one of the first Jump'n'Run games for the Commodore C64 - the console manufacturers got anxious - one of them tried to stop the sisters and the end seemed close. But you might say when idols die then legends are born ! As in this case. C64, Amiga, Amstrad and Atari ST Gamer honor GIANA SISTERS and an original game with packaging has become a rare collector's item.
The legend is back, better and bigger than ever before. Four years after the successful mobile phone version the GIANA SISTERS celebrate their arrival in the new millenium as an iPad App, without loosing their 80s charm. We have improved the graphics of the levels from the iPhone especially for the iPad, and the game was expanded to accommodate the additional requirements and options of the iPad. Thus, the GIANA SISTERS HD app now features captivating HD graphics, freely movable buttons, and much more.
The newly polished 32 classic levels from the old days should result in hear palpitation and teary-eyes for real enthusiasts. Even though GIANA SISTERS has been polished off from its decade old dust 2010 it goes strong with the known style, legendary sound and all classic features. Jump deep into the Giana world with 80 new adventures. Choose between classic or touch control as well as several new features - a connection to Facebook gives GIANA SISTERS the connection into this world.
GIANA SISTERS provides you with fun for your iPad,iPhone and iPod that lasts for hours ! - 80 new levels - 32 retro levels - completely new graphic set especially for iPhone and iPod - 2 controls (touch and classic) - iPod connection - play your own music whild you play GIANA SISTERS - 5 languages: English, German, Spanish, French and Italian

8 of 14Really! Everything is right about this remake of an 80's classic computer game! The music and sound have been nicely updated but are still stay true to Chris Hülsbeck's original soundtrack. The graphics are beautifully drawn! The quality of the characters is outstanding! It's well worth the 5 bucks, especially for fans of the original! The gameplay is translated really well. Motions, and overall feel how the characters react to the controls seems amazingly authentic. Sure, I first missed my "Competition Pro" Joystick, but after tweaking the controls to match the way I naturally hold my ipad I quickly adapted to the "new" way of playing this classic "Jump and Run" Game! I'm going to recommend this App to all my friends that shared the joy of playing "Giana Sisters" on our beloved Commodore 64 home computer. ... A long long time ago, in a childhood far far away!
It keeps crashing. Please fix, I want to play!!! Love the app but.... HELP.
Please fix the reboot-issue! Very very annoying!
Having owned the iPhone version, now upgraded to the iPad version - I can say, the differences are more than marginal. Rarely, do I take time to write a review and proceed with more than the star rating system...however, I decided to give this game 5 stars and a review. I am not a shill for the developers, but having grown up with the NES, I know a great platformer when I play one. The iPad will never receive Mario titles, so this is as close as they come. Basically, the character art, animations and love put into this title are top notch. The controls work - if you're familiar with Soosiz, you'll understand how to play this. Long winded review, sorry. Just play it. Enjoy it. If you like Mario, you'll like this. The only Niggle I have: Could have more level variation, in terms of scenery. Maybe they'll one day create a sequel, with varied worlds and suit power ups...then, Nintendo can have a true contender to Mario's world :0) Matthew S.
OK, so it's knockoff of Mario Brothers. It was a knockoff over 20 years ago. It is still a delightful (and huge) game that makes me believe that the iPad will become a genuine gaming platform. The virtual controls will never be ideal on the iPad, but this is as good as I've seen. The graphics are wonderful and smooth. Best game I have purchased on the iPad.
Once I got the iPad controls placed where I liked them I was all set to give this a great review. Then I started playing. My first complaint was one I can probably get over but would really like to see fixed. The platforming physics in the HD game feel more "slippery" than in the original iPhone version. If the controls were tightened up that would be an instantly higher rating. Secondly, and most importantly, the frame rate is very choppy. I noticed it right away but it really hit me after only a few levels when my eyes started to feel very strained. Before long I noticed I was getting a headache. By the time I finished the first world I had to stop playing and I'm skeptical I'll pick it up again very soon because of this. If these two problems are fixed I will change my rating to a 5-Star for sure.
First, I spent 5bucks accidentally purchasing the iPhone version, then paid ANOTHER five bucks buying the ipad version. A few days later I install the update, and EVERY time I want to play, I have to first restart the iPad??? Why???? I'm not going to restart before every game, that's crazy! I WANT MY MONEY BACK!
I was enjoying the game, but can't play through level 4-1. The soda machine is only a white box, so I can't solve the level. Hoping for a fix at some point!
