Mostly great

Love this app. Just have 2 complaints. Would really like to be able to attach more than 1 series to books. Some anthologies have bits of series from different authors. Plus some authors have recurring characters I'd like to track. Secondly, books available in digital format only aren't available. Other than that, this is a great app for tracking my reading.

works on phone but doesn't transfer to computer

I bought the books app pro and scanned about 80 books, which seems to work on the phone, but have not been able to open the library on my computer. I am getting messages that say the file may be corrupted. I have sent a message to app support requesting assistance just now, and am waiting to hear back.

Books App

This is an app that every teacher must have. After 12 years of teaching, my book collection is huge. This app allows me to catalog all of the titles where they are easily accessible.

Great Idea

App seems great. I have scanned almost 70 books already. However when I go to back up my library the app crashes.

BooksApp.... support? a problem? auxillary lens...

by DrJ DrJ · October 11, 2010

I have an ipod touch 4G. Everything in this program works except I cannot enter an ISBN number and get information on that book. All it will show me is the number I entered as the final information. It's frustrating. The support website does NOT have an email address to contact the developer, and I am not on Twitter. In addition, I've found that using my touch 4G for Barcode scan recognition, as is, with this program, often leads to no scan results. I have some small lenses such as found on a jeweler's eyeglass attachment magnifier, and if I place one of those lenses over the ipod's back photo lens, the clarity of the image increases dramatically, and I can focus closer to the book....and then the barcode scan will be fine. I wish I could figure out how to enter and get results for the isbn number directly...thus I'm rating it a 4 adding this note: ISBN numbers typically look like #-###-###-#....there are dashes in the number. That's how I entered it. If I eliminate the dashes and enter the number....only then will the program work. This is a bug in the program.... dashes should be removed if necessary from the entry numbers.

Broken

Was great app easy to use fast to input. Scanning of bar codes does not work anymore. Says network error. Will be 5 stars if that is fixed soon.

My books appear when opened and it is quite snappy. Seems to have fixed all major issues and bugs.

Save your money

This app is wildly unstable and works when it feels like. There are frequent crashes in addition to the barcode scanner randomly ceasing to function. Wish I could get my money back and the time I've put into scanning books.
