Ether (Radio)

This is the nicest UI of any radio app out there. The downside is that there are very few radio stations and little, if any at all, of American stations. A good start but needs a lot of work. Wunder Radio is still the best out there even with its less than inspiring UI.

I've used other radio apps including, Pandora, Last.fm and WinAmp but Ether is one of the best and simplest Online Radio apps out there. The app comes with radio "packs" that you can download for free with have around 5-10 radio stations that focus on that catagory you picked. The UI is simple and clean. There is a play button which also doubles as a pause button. All is need to do is select the station you want to play and in a matter of seconds it starts to play. Either also works in the background and you can use always bring up the controls to pause by double tapping the home button. The only issus I have found, which could just be me, is when I want to stop the app because I am done listening to music I exit the app and if I dont stop the app in the multitask double tap menu sometimes it will continue to play randomly. But not a major issue. Future features I would like to see is maybe pull the feed from the streaming radio about currently playing song/artist. Maybe a link to the radio stations website to read more on them. And the ability to add your own radio streams. Great App.. A must for every iPhone/iPod Touch

Although the app now works with the built-in music player controls from iOS 4 and supports multitasking, it does not work perfectly. After I use the app to play a radio station, and then pause the app, any incoming calls will cause Ether to "resume" playing after the call is finished (even though it was not playing at the start of the call). This can become quite annoying!

This is the best app in the App Store for streaming Howard Stern for free !!! Just google this for the stream: Wushdishmeen Enjoy. WARNING. If you use your iPhone as an alarm clock and plan on using Ether to listen to music when you sleep the alarm will not sound. I'm currently looking for a replacement app.
