8 of 11's oK for free. To be worth paying for, even a buck, it'd need a LOT more templates, and some color would be nice. BAsic manipulation of the pieces is natural and intuitive, though I found fine adjustments needed some prodding a time or two. But I've done a lot of tangrams in my day, and so after solving the two most challenging, I'm ready to remove it from the ipad.
Don't get this. There is no help button. Hard to change the shape or turn it. Got to be better tangram app.
Very easy to use and simple interface, that does everything it needs to do with no unnecessary bells and whistles. Pieces are easy to select, turn, flip, and move, as per the simple instructions in the app description. Pieces also are semi-transparent when on top of each other, making it easy to have them all out at once and still see what's what (though a tangram novice might be misled by this, and not realize that pieces cannot be overlapped to solve a puzzle). Comes with a decent selection of medium and hard templates, with the option to buy two large packs of templates for a buck each. Now, he's my only beef with this app: when you select a template to try to solve, the template appears in shadow form on the workspace, IN ACTUAL SIZE. This constitutes a major hint in solving the puzzle - one of the great challenges in real-world tangrams is having to reproduce the shape without knowing how big certain elements are (is that a medium or a large triangle?). The option to have the actual-size template would be nice as a hint option, but for this app to earn five stars from me, the default template should appear as a smaller icon in the corner or top of the screen.
Can't get the pieces to turn
No frills tangram game, pretty much like the real thing. It's simple and it works. Nicely done.
Controls are easy to figure out. Drag pieces around with one finger, turn pieces with a second finger, double tap on the diamond to "mirror image" it. Great app!
App does not abide by VOLUME CONTROL on iPad. Obnoxious.
I wish it would let us know if we've completed the tangram or not... Also, I just noticed that the "square template" was actually in the app's icon... So... yea... This app could be improved.
