Airplane Flying Handbook is the official FAA source for learning to fly and the source for many FAA Knowledge Exams test questions. The Airplane Flying Handbook app is a "must" for all pilots.

This app introduces the basic pilot skills and knowledge essential for piloting airplanes. It benefits student pilots, as well as those pilots wishing to improve their flying proficiency and aeronautical knowledge, pilots preparing for additional certificates or ratings, and flight instructors engaged in the instruction of both students and licensed pilots.

This app introduces you to the realm of flight and provides information and guidance in the performance of procedures and maneuvers required for pilot certification. It contains information on:

+ flight training + ground operations + basic flight maneuvers + slow flight + stalls + spins + takeoff and departure climbs + ground reference maneuvers + airport traffic patterns + approaches and landings + performance maneuvers + night operations + transition to complex airplanes + transition to multiengine airplanes + transition to tailwheel airplanes + transition to turboprop powered airplanes + transition to jet powered airplanes + emergency procedures.

To install apps directly onto this device, it must be jailbroken with AppSync installed.

I just bought this and downloaded it only to find that it is an outdated version.

Awesome for Students!

This is an incredible app that holds the student pilot's attention throughout. Absolutely worth the price!

4 stars

Though, you can download the exact same thing off the FAA web site, it is very nice just to be able and pull up this app. I have used the search function many times when teaching students, and trying to find something fast. The app is very useful, and I have never had a problem with it. In order for this to get 5 stars I would like to be able to highlight.

by Scvbrent1 · January 13, 2011

This is nothing but the FAA handbook, but into a paid app. I assumed that there was at least something added, but no. Dont waste your $3' go download the PDF for free from the FAA site.

Yes but..

Yes you can download this book and others for free but I love the fact you can search, bookmark or pull up the table of contents up from any page and go anywhere. It's great features for only $3

Excellent summary with great graphics; I recommend this for all pilots!

Horrible Revisions

by iLikeSlurpees · September 9, 2012

What they have done with these FAA books is truly a step backward. They no longer resemble the original FAA publication, and are more difficult to navigate and read. One of us who purchased the original version should receive a refund because this is not the same app.
