Great wind app and great tactical sailing display

by cal to co · April 22, 2024

After years of frustration on my end - and a lot of patience on their part-I now have a beautiful setup and a reliable display using Mid WIFI. I am using an iPad mini now. - latest version All of the other times I was using a full size iPad. The mini seems to work 500% better. Customer service on their side stuck with me. Great job.

Great product

Great product for the active sailor. I'm eagerly waiting for new wind instrument.

Very Disappointed

I purchased the Sailtimer Wind Vane while in preproduction. After 5 vanes,I finally got a working vane 2 months ago. I will not go into all the troubles that I had here.

I am very disappointed in the APP also. After all my troubles with the hardware, I can’t get the APP to do what is promised.

When I launch the APP, I often can’t get the maps to load. When they do, I do not get a ground speed read out. I have been unable for the polar plot to “learn”. Positioning on my boat is critical to get the app to connect to the vane.

I can’t figure out how to get the app to go from present position to a way point.

I have spent hundreds of dollars and messed with several vanes over several years and still have not been able to get a fully functioning product.

I must say, that even though tech/customer support has sometimes been a tad rough on me, they have always supported their product.

No stars

Five Star hype. No stars for substance. The one star is in default to get this review to print. How disappointing. Such a great idea. Maybe it will upgrade someday and I'll have something for my time & $.

Perfect

The SailTimer is perfect and does exactly what it’s supposed to do. So glad I can save my waypoints, and time how long it will take me to get to my destinations. But it does so much more than that! If your looking for a great tacking app/GPS for sailing, you found one! I recommend!

Very nice experience

user since 2009 I have had a variety of boats, iPhones and iPads over the years that I have used this app with. My only complaint is that one of the big brands hasn’t licensed this software to use in a permanently mounted GPS chartplotter.

Rubbish on the ipod touch. Until they allow the current position to be set manually (ie without GPS) it is functionally useless.
