Play backgammon against the computer or your friends. You'll have a lot of fun and you'll see your backgammon game steadily improve!

"The interface in iGammon is clean and easy to use. Best of all, it just works."

----------------

FEATURES: • Large board and checkers • Fast animation • Autoplay forced moves • Fast-forward plays both sides to the end of the game for you • Undo button lets you to take back moves • Running pip counts • Choose direction of play and checker colours • Human-vs-human play. Use your iPad or iPhone as a traveling backgammon board! • Hint feature gives you a suggestion if you can't decide what to do

*** Try the Hint feature! Just watch the lightbulb (hint indicator) to see if it disappears when you finish your move. If so, you can pick up the dice knowing you've make the best move. Otherwise, try something else or tap on the lightbulb to see the computer's suggestion.

----------------

MODES OF PLAY

There are two modes of play: "table stakes" or "match play".

In TABLE STAKES, you and your opponent start with an equal number of chips. The goal is to collect all the chips before your opponent does. Use the doubling cube to increase the stakes. If you play with the "Jacoby rule", gammons and backgammon don't count unless the cube has been turned. If you play with the "Beavers rule", a player who accepts a double may immediately redouble and still keep the cube.

In MATCH PLAY, the goal is to be the first player to reach a specified total number of points. Use the doubling cube to increase the stakes. The "Crawford rule" takes the doubling cube out of play for one game when a player gets to within one point of winning.

You offer a double by sliding the cube over to your opponent's side of the board. Opponent can accept the double by pressing "Take" (the game continues at twice the previous stakes), or reject the double by pressing "Pass" (he loses the game and must pay the previous stakes.)

----------------

COMPUTER PLAYER

The computer AI is VERY strong. There are two levels of play: Average and Strong. Both are fun and challenging.

Thank you for all the suggestions. If you have a feature you'd like to see, please email me at [email protected]. Many user suggestions have already been incorporated into this app.

I hope you enjoy iGammon. Thank you for playing!

Please update

by Scruber84 · April 2, 2020

REVIEW UPDATE This a very fun game, but you managed to make me HATE it.. It is 100% cheating.. In all levels 1,2,3, and specially 4 And the worst part is that all the people are writing all those negative reviews and you are doing nothing to update or solve the problem.. Game play: 5 stars Design: 5 stars Graphics: 5 stars Very addictive Problems: 1-Dice is not fair.. It is so annoying.. I don't mind loosing if it was a fair dice.. 2-there are many other game styles that can be added and played.. ( morrocan, blocked, jewish, turkish, russian.....)

Sorry Mairzyd

Sorry pal, but this game is a total fix, and I don’t whine. Just would like to find a game that isn’t fixed more than 75% of the time. Just give me a fair game, not too much to ask for.

BBR ROBYN Jan 30, 2018 Dear Tom, You win. Deleted your app after only 7 days, 350 games. Hope you are happy with yourself that I don't even enjoy the game of BG! Been playing 45 years So incredibly sad😢I'm sure you don't care From what I read of your reviews (and my response of overwhelming happiness, five stars ) I Believed the people that said what a great person you were to care about the game of backgammon, to pass on your knowledge... Yada yada yada apparently you are just one of the same, go ahead, pat yourself on the back buddy~ I was so thrilled to get this device because disability is so boring but you ruined it😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱

Simple and fun! I play backgammon for decades, and MEVER found a iOS game that I liked. Great design and it really feels like playing against a smart opponent.

Computer Absolutely Cheats!

by Walrusman · January 12, 2020

What are the odds of rolling doubles 4x in a row repeatedly over back to back games? What are the chances of rolling exactly what is needed to knock my piece off the second I have a single open? I used to like this game, but there is something in the code that makes the computer play off the player’s pieces. It’s not an even rule set. Fix the problem & perhaps add some more custom colors & you have a very nice game.

Algorithm is rigged

by Captain Custerdome · June 10, 2021

I am a good player and can beat the computer most of the time; however, the game algorithm often rolls a very low-probability combination to get out of a certain defeat - I.e. when only one roll combination will save the computer and beat me, it will do that more often than statistically likely. It’s a shame that so many of these games lack purely random dice rolls.

Incredibly Annoying!!!

by DsquareD-310 · October 4, 2020

The game is clearly manipulated by the simulator. Bot returns to the board with single roll almost every time even with 3-5 points covered. Player can’t needs multiple shakes even with only one point covered. I get the most doubles when on the bar and they just happen to be covered spots. I can still win, but only when the bot decides to let me. I’ve played this game hundreds and thousands of times. It isn’t just me wanting to notice bad luck when it rolls my way.

Stacked Against You

by NoOneYouKnow212 · August 5, 2024

I’m an excellent player of more than 30 years, but it’s impossible to have a fair chance. The computer seems to always get JUST the right roll combo, or series of doubles when it’s behind, etc. It used to be fun and competitive; now frustrating and unfair.
