8 of 13I tried downloading the Lite, but it didn't load. Now, when I go back to the game via the apps store, it says "Installed". If it's installed, then where is it??!!
But be warned: even with the zoom in feature, the tiles are very small, and hard to read for older eyes. Otherwise, the app is stable, well executed, creatively designed, and fun, although the eye strain makes it somewhat tiring to play.
Don't buy the full version. The Lite version does not load and crashes.
I like this app. The recent update created two bugs that annoy me, though. In Classic mode, when I solve a level and it asks if I want to buy the full app, when I click "No thanks" it tosses me to a page for buying other apps from the developer. Dudes, I know you have to make money somehow, but hawking your games while I'm waiting for my score only makes me grumpy. Also, the sound levels don't always stay where I set them. These issues mean I'm spending a lot more time in the app while *not* playing the game, which is making me consider another app for mahjong.
If you're looking for the best Mahjong on the App Store, here it is, and the full version is only 99c! Great value!
Great visual design with lots going on! Highly entertaining, incorporating a storyline with manga-style pages between games and artifact collection to some mysterious end (revealed only in the pay version). I tend to agree that multi-touch zooming might help tile visibility, but even my fat fingers have no trouble selecting the desired tiles even when zoomed all the way out. Unfortunately all the visual beauty makes it a heavy resource user, so beware of your charge state. I'm afraid I'm moving on to a less beautiful but more easily zoomable game that's not quite so demanding on the system.
NOTE -- APP DIDN'T LOAD? it may still be on your machine. Reboot your phone, pod, or pad (turn it off completely -- a good thing to do every now and then -- this gets rid of old garbage and reloads all your info). If the app is still missing do a search for it. Finally go back to the app store and sit for a while, then redo the above. I download freebies frequently and some don't show until I run my pod through this routine. Once had an app that didn't load completely--whenever I opened my pod it asked for my password -- freaky, it hadn't done that before -- happened to my husband too -- he logged into the store and a partially loaded app finished loading. I did the same and an app I was sure hadn't loaded was suddenly there. Good luck. G5 Entertainment quality is incredible. Every game I've tried is a treasure (haven't played them all...yet). This version of Mahjong is colorful and well-rendered. The tiles are easily identified and the automatic zoom is an impressive, well-thought-out feature which automatically adjusts the layout to fit the window as tiles are removed. The game has every bell and whistle I want - anything more would be clutter. It is polished and plays beautifully, thoughtlessly -- it isn't sticky -- you can remove the tiles as fast as you want and the game doesn't blink, hic, or stick. These people know what they're doing better than most.
Kudos to the developers. I don't typically care much for Mahjong but something about the app caught my eye. I will certainly purchase the pay version.
