8 of 25Needs update for ios 4.02 ASAP app is crashing when choosing a song or video
Please make it compatible with ios 4
This doesn't work. Read the other reviews. They are all true. I've set up the app correctly, as soon as you click play it goes back to pause. Its never played once. Normally the app just crashes.
Took some time to set up but well worth the time seeing as I now have all my music(.5tb) on my iPhone
If you want to have access to your massive music library wherever you go, this app coupled with XBMC on your computer is what you need!
No more choosing what songs to sync to your iPhone, they're all there! And they're all neatly organized via artist, album and it even displays cover art with visualizations. Really amazing!
I haven't had any problems with iOS 4.0.2. And it supports multitasking (plays on the background).
I've been an avid XBMC user since it's Xbox 1 days. Thanks to this app, it just takes it over the top!
If you have xbmc this is a must. Streams your whole music collection to you. No need to waste valuable space on your Iphone. If you don't have xbmc then download it, it's free! It's one of the best multi-platform media center applications in the world.
Awesome app. One of my most used, and it stomps Simplify Media's app. This would be a 5 star review but for a couple of things. 1 - I've not been able to connect outside my network, but I use Plex - a fork of XBMC, and hopefully the new version *should* fix this. 2 - The dev needs to invest a little time in setting up/organizing directions for setup- not in pdf docs exclusively, and for XBMC, Plexx, and Boxee (if it works, and if not tell people so) as well. Their forums are a little barren in the Help section. A Setup section, a Troubleshooting section... would be helpful - last thing, at the risk of sounding petty, the links into the forum are tricky especially on an Ipod/Iphone (click on the product name, not the URL below it- I thought the forum was down for a bit) 3 - the OS3 upgrade broke this app, and Apple is slow in approving the new version. I'm not sure when it was submitted, "a while ago" but I'm really missing this app. Apple - I know you all are swamped... but please?
The product really should have been incorporated into the xbmc remote rather than sold as an offshoot. That is the first issue.

Simplifymedia has a couple advantages over this product. First it doesn't require a large and often full screen app to run. It runs as a system tray app. Second it doesn't require messing with your router just to get it to work externally.

This app has the advantage of not needing to set up an acct on another computer on the Internet.

The fact that they have a web site but really don't host support is one thing, but what they do have is incredibly simplistic almost bordering on incompetence, if not then just laziness. The pdf files are barely adequate except for the most minor configuration and certainly totaly inadequate for any sort of problem solving, especially when it comes to external access.

They defer to another site for router issue resolution, but that relegates them to nothing more than a passenger. Not to mention that some of the common routers represented there are our of date or just inaccurate.

The product really is a stripped down feature set of their product with streaming tossed in sort of haphazardly.

Their support guy that answers questions facilitated a bug reporting requirement that discourages reporting errors in hopes of resolving your own issues, though he seems a nice enough guy.

The product does work with exceptions to certain environments such as linux. In this case you may encounter issues with permission issues that generates messages about failure to play audio. Most users don't know about permissions and just want to hear their music.

The ext playback support config via your router can disable internal playback. You set one up as external connect and create another as internal and switch between. Unfortunately doing so and configuring the router for external can break the ability to playback internally. Internal is defined by playing through access to your LAN while ext is playback through the Internet via port forwarding.

Good try guys but pull the plug and reincorporate it into your other product so we can feel like we are actually getting something for our money.
Ignore the people who are giving this a bad rap, if you take the time to read and set things up properly with xbmc, and have updated xbmc, biggest issue, ppl neglect to update xbmc, otherwise this will work perfect!! Only downside, it kills the battery fast!! But I have mine on a power source while using this. Can't wait for the update.
