Best value of ALL language study apps

I can't IMAGINE a more useful app for Chinese study. Versatile, comprehensive, and practically free...! What more could you ask? It saved me in Taiwan for the year I was there, and brought my vocab up a huge notch.

best of breed

I've tried just about every single dictionary on iphone and this one is one of the best. Qingwen has more depth of content but the flashcard integration is a category killer for this. All it needs is radical lookup and there will be very little that can be done to improve it.

The Best Dictionary. Excellent.

Klaus, Thank you for providing this wonderful app. It has proved invaluable in my study of Mandarin. Having spent hundreds of dollars on other pocket dictionaries and programs, I am happy that you created this well thought out and easy to use app. The Trainer and Flashcards are absolutely great and it was what sold me on your app. The dictionary entries are comprehensive, which is just how I like it. It's important to be able to see how many ways a word is used and how many different words can be used to say the same thing. What would be nice to have is a pronunciation feature (with a clear, human voice). Those of us studying Chinese language know that getting the inflection wrong on a word can change its meaning. Klaus, thank you again. A+, 100%, the Best.

The only Chinese dictionary I use. Highly recommend it.

Good set of features

Though not as sophisticated as Pleco, this app offers a lot of bang for the buck. I wish this app had a couple of features like one of its competing apps, Dianhua, such as being able to draw over Chinese characters & showing related terms. The option to choose dialect variants, i.e., Taiwan & Hong Kong, and voice over speed are huge plusses. Unlike Pleco where you need to purchase in-app updates to get more features, I'll like that KTDict provides the full version without separate in-app upgrades.

Doesn't work on iPad

by Thisappdontwork · October 17, 2015

I used this app on the iPhone and it works great. However it does not work at all on the iPad. It keeps crashing. I emailed customer support and they said it is due to the latest upgrade iOS. However it has been over a month and I still can't use the app. ------------------------------------ The app is fantastic and extremely helpful for learning Chinese. I use this app everyday (since I am currently in china.) however, my 1 complaint is that there should be a way to just search in pinyin or just in English. Sometimes when looking for words there's just a huge list that takes a while to go through. Otherwise, this app is great.
