8 of 25This is not standard iOS behavior and makes it very frustrating to use the app while walking or in a moving vehicle
Grateful for the updates to make this compatible with new iOS and new iDevices. This was an expensive app when I bought it. Unlike other dictionary apps that I bought that were also expensive (eg Shorter Oxford English Dictionary) this one continues to update for compatibility while the other ones no longer work on newer devices.
I thought this version 4.x app of Oxford Deluxe by Enfour, Inc. was replaced by a version 5.x app by English Channel, Inc.
This disappeared for months, but now that the other has been absent for many weeks, this has returned to the App Store.
I don't recommend buying this unless it gets updated. An update would make me more confident that this one is officially supported, and will continue to work on new devices with new iOS versions.
But without a 2015 update, I think this is abandoned. Don't support abandon-ware.
If you’re looking for a dictionary this is the one to get I’ve had this dictionary for Very long time and I paid a pretty penny $$ for it. It was well worth every dime. I have to commend this company for the support and the app compatibility updates they give for our new devices. I believe in my personal opinion they have gone above and beyond the call of duty. Every support inquiry I have made I have gotten nothing but professionalism from their support staff last one was really a stupid mistake on my part they were very nice to laugh along with me. And yes I would recommend this to my friends and I would buy again
I have had this dictionary since it first hit the App Store. It use to work however since I have upgraded to the iPhone 6 plus it has not worked and crashes every time I open it and hit the search button.
Ok, they fixed the anti piracy issue quickly and added iPhone 5 support. Back to being a great dictionary.
Oxford dictionary has much better definitions than other dictionaries and is well categorized to show the different variations of the meanings of words. The Thesaurus is indispensable for writers, students, and academics. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. [The reason I gave it four stars instead of five is because, when clicking between the Dictionary and Thesaurus, you have to again click on the the word. Since the word is already chosen, why should you have to go through the extra step of clicking twice? As a writer, I use this daily, many times a day, and it’s an extra step that is redundant.]
I bought an app called OED deluxe a couple years ago: worked fine, loved it, until a few weeks ago, kept getting “total failure” - the app would shut down and redirect to purchase another app. Cust service finally convinced me this was because my “subscription” expired (even tho this is supposed to be a one time purchase). But ok I went and bought it again. There were a couple apps: one with (In App) in the title (didn’t work, got refunded), and this one: this app worked for a few weeks and now AGAIN.

_______UPDATE FEB. 23, 2022 _____
I had removed all OED apps from all devices (as well as Am Heritage) which had the same problem. Following the developer’s response, I tried to redownload. Right now it’s working. I’ll be glad to have it back but am also wary that the issue may recur again.
