Good basic tracker

by Dave see · December 4, 2024

We’ve used HomeBudget since around 2014. Unlike other apps, we like that this one offers the ability to create and organize our own categories. The bank sync has never worked but that would elevate this app to near perfect.

First usage as of 6/29/24

by Mellow1643 · June 30, 2024

I downloaded this app less than 24 hours ago after browsing the App Store on my iPhone. As a former Mint user still searching for a suitable replacement, my initial thoughts are mixed.

After purchasing the full version, I discovered that neither of my banking institutions are in the app's database for linking (Service credit union and Credit Karma). This was a major disappointment. I've submitted a request to the developers to add these banks. Additionally, I'm unsure if the app frequently communicates with the banks to pull recent transactions, which would prevent the need to manually add each transaction.

Another issue I noticed is that the app counts future income transactions in the current balance before the date they are received. This distorts the current balance, making it difficult to accurately assess available funds.

Lastly, while the payee section is a nice feature, it lacks preloaded information, requiring manual entry for all details. For those with 20+ accounts to manage, this can be quite tedious without preloaded transaction information.

Great Budgeting App - Runs locally

by -dlo · March 30, 2026

Like many others, I’ve been using this app for many years now. For those who value privacy/security - this is a great option as it runs & stores your data locally, while also offering an option to transfer your data from one device to another. Easy to setup, use and I haven’t had the need to use anything else.

Budgeting with this app for nearly 15 years

by Veteran_Review · June 24, 2026

This app keeps on kicking. For nearly 15 years, it has tracked every expense in my household. It is simple to use and great for anyone who doesn’t mind (or prefers) manually inputting transactions.

Developer doesn’t respond…

by adrian3000 · July 24, 2024

I found a bug and reported it. Never heard back from the developer after multiple attempts. I’ve been a user for 4-5 years. Disappointed in the lack of a response. Save your money and go with a more dependable app (developer).

Horrible app

by Ben Negussie · September 27, 2024

I would love to give this app a five star unfortunately one of the major Future does not work, which is OneBudget. You should be able to set up one budget, and should display a horizontal bar indicating the budget you set. In this case it does not work. I’ve contacted the developer at least five times if not more, they never responded. Terrible customer service. Of course they already got my money, so why should they? So don’t bother spending your money on this app.

Last update has made the app less usable

by shallowdlights · July 1, 2026

I bought this app over a decade ago. I loved that I was able to log my purchases and know exactly where my accounts stood. After the last update, I can’t scroll through my notes anymore. I can still use the search function. But it’s impossible to read further than 2 lines. This is really frustrating for me when I’m searching for data.

Goodbye after 12 years. Moving to Budget Sync

by MoneyBudgeter · January 26, 2025

I’ve been faithfully using app for 12 years. Very sad to see the dev has abandoned it. The bugs have slowly collected, outdated interface, no native dark mode support and overall stagnation of feature development have caused me to search for alternatives.

After experimenting with 126 alternative expense trackers, I finally found the best one: Budget Sync (by Fabian). encourage everyone looking for an alternative to move your data now.

To Anishu: I want to thank you for developing this great app that I was able to use to track every cent for 12 years. Best of luck to you !
