8 of 25At the store you can take a pic. of an item & it's price. At home I then write the note with the name of the store. I have WASTED some much money on "grocery apps." and photonote beats them all.
This app simply works. It is a little sparse on features, but if you need notes tied to your pictures like I do, this app works perfectly. It is pretty simple - hit the icon, select "camera", take the picture, hit "Use" if you're satisfied with the picture, enter notes and select category. That's it.

Note that Category can be customized, ordered and default selected. With the newest version, you can sort forward and backward by Category, note description (alphabetical) and date/time. You can also show only notes from any one category, though this is not intuitive ... you click on a hidden button at the top where it says PhotoNote which takes you to the menu choices.

E-mail feature has worked just fine on my iPhone 4. Also, it has never crashed on me - very stable.

Missing features (in order of importance to me):
1) support for voice notes
2) link to Evernote - would be nice to be able to sync directly, but can use e-mail now to get picture/note to Evernote
3) lack of video recording - only pictures can have notes added
Would be perfect (for me) if:
1) it remembered the new categories I added the next time I launch it (what's the point of having this feature if the categories get deleted upon exit???)
2) within the same session, it remembered what category I set as the default (again, why have this selection available if it doesn't work)
3) I can add (or change) a picture to a note after the note is created
4) A web based version would be great

Note:
Items 1 and 2 are major BUGS in the app. Fix these and it's a 4 star app;
Items 3 and 4 are enhancements. Add these and it's a 5 star app.
I find this app very useful, when it works. It's very buggy, it lags, it crashes often. I'm a landlord who rents to college kids, and I like to use this app to photograph and note damage they do to the properties. It's also great for me to easily compare before and after. It's just maddening that this app us exactly what I need, and it just doesn't work! The longer it's open and running, the more it lags until it crashes. PLEASE FIX! Btw- I run with a 3G. Is it better on the 3GS?
I like it but Can't backup?
I would like to see Photonote open onto a page where you can see all your different folders or categories, then once in your category you can select to see each note. So everything is not all on one page. So folder/categories/subcategory/note.
This app is pretty cool!! It has saved time and increase efficiency for me, which is a stress reducer. Easy to use and manipulate.
I love this app and I've been using it for recording new recipes, home improvement ideas! However, there is no way of backing up the information. This morning, my daughter accidentally deleted the app on my iPhone and ALL MY NOTES WERE GONE! Also, I am able to create my own categories, but they can not be saved, so I would have to retype them all time.
